What happened to Charlie?

A couple months ago Charlie Sheen was everywhere, and now it seems he has dropped off the face of the earth.  There is some talk that he is negotiating a deal for a new show that could air as soon as Jan 2012, but no details are out there yet.  I would love for Charlie to do a new show but I'm not sure people are going to accept him as they once did.  I think he is a great entertainer, and it will be hard for anyone to replace him on Two and a Half Men.  I do think Ashton is a good choice and if anyone could replace Charlie he could come closer than most.   I really can't figure how they are going to write Charlie off and Ashton in. It's going to be a big change getting used to someone else in Charlie's beach house.
